This a wonderful merino/silk top from Chasing Rainbows. It spins as nicely as it looks.
New lace-weight spindles for my collection. Each a great spinner, and each a beauty.
Merino/silk roving from Foxhill Farms, with about 60 yards I did on one of the new spindles.
More delicious merino/silk top from Chasing Rainbows, with about 60 yards I did on another of my new spindles. I have a plan for this yarn already, and it involves some of those gold beads in the first picture...
Yarn. 50% merino/50% angora in a lace-weight. It looks like it will take dye very well to me.
And last but not least, some very fine lace-weight 2-ply Shetland for good measure. It isn't very soft, but it is crisp and should make excellent lace.

I am shopped out for now! I'll be back soon with a new set of charts; but first I need to get the Gypsy Queen ready for Halloween night. Stand-by...
I love your new spindles. I started spinning in August with a 3oz Louet that came with the class and got a Janet Yost .5 oz from Lynne Vogel at the end of the month. Good for spinning silk and cotton as well as some wools. I think I would like a 1-1.25oz as well. I'm also eyeing a Majacraft Susie wheel after Christmas. We shall see...
ReplyDeleteAddictive, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI love your new square spindle - looks like one of Steve's from Spindlewood Spindles?
ReplyDeleteHe really does some pretty work.
That is from Steve. I have a few of his. They are wonderful spinners and beautiful too. He is among my all time favorite spindle makers! You must have some too...
ReplyDeleteI met Steve and Connie at SOAR - we became fast friends.
ReplyDeleteTurns out that I have a very early spindle made by him in addition to the one I got at SOAR. He's made me a custom one - from some gorgeous woods that I am practically holding my breath waiting for.
I have two he made for me also. They are tiny and lovely. One day I will do a big spindle post to show them off. I have a pretty nice spindle collection. It sounds like you do to. Those cuties just seem to multiply while I am not looking...
